25.4.2011 iltapäivällä Lystin maailma kääntyi päälaelleen - Lystistä tuli apuisä. Lystilandiaan saapui tuolloin 22.4.2011 maailmaan putkahtanut ihmisvauva (tyttö, 50 cm, 3550 g).

Lysti vaikutti tajuavan välittömästi vauvan nähdessään, että tämä ei nyt ole kuka tahansa vieras. Lysti tutki vauvan _erittäin_ tarkasti nuuhkien tätä varovasti joka puolelta. Luultavasti Lysti oli haistanut vauvan jo sen ollessa kohdussa ja aisti äidistä jo huomattavasti ennen vauvan syntymää, että pienokainen on tulossa. Ensimmäisen kerran vauvan itkun kuullessaan Lysti haukahti yllätyksestä, mutta huomasi pian että haukkuminen ei ole tarpeeseen vaan pahentaa tilannetta. Sen jälkeen koira siirtyi opiskelumoodiin. Se seuraa isäntäväen reaktioita aina kun vauvasta kuuluu jotain ääntä ja päättelee meistä, onko ääni sellainen mihin kuuluisi reagoida. Jos isäntäväki ei liikahdakaan, myös Lysti pysyy aloillaan, mutta jos me reagoimme, Lystikin herkistyy.

Ja jo tänään kun olemme olleet kotona vasta kaksi ja puoli vuorokautta, Lysti tuntuu oppineen vauvan äänet ja eleet hyvin sujuvasti. Tänään vauva nukkui sängyssään kaikessa rauhassa ja isäntäväki oli kahvilla. Yllättäen Lysti tuli hakemaan meitä kahvipöydästä ja vain pari sekuntia paikalle saapumisemme jälkeen alkoikin jo itku.
